13:15	Monica Bordegoni (Politecnico di Milano, Italy) "Making VR/AR experience more thrilling with the addition of smell" Abstract ▼ Q&A [Q1] Yumie Ono (Meiji University) Smell is easy to be adapted. Is it possible to continuously stimulate the user for a long-time of VR/AR experience? And is it possible to deliver different odors without mixing them up (like clean clothes and fish)? [A1] 　Stimulation with odors typically lasts few seconds, because the human olfactory systems get addicted to odours very quickly. It is possible to deliver different odors when using a personal wearable olfactory display. In case of desktop olfactory displays, or ODs placed in the environment, saturation with doors could be an issue. For this reason some installations use ventilation to clean the air. 　 [Q2] anonymous (Meiji University) Can you create an olfactory experience that is not possible in the real world, just as you can create a CG representation of something that is not possible in the real world? I would like to know if you have any concrete examples. [A2] 　You can mix chemical molecules and create odours that do not exist in reality. Some companies selling fragrances create evocative odours like “The smell of grass on a rainy summer day”. 　 [Q3] Kaoru Arakawa (Meiji University) In the case of image the color is composed of 3 color components such as RGB. In the case of smell, is the smell composed of such fundamental components? [A3] 　Unfortunately not. You cannot create an adorable by combining basic ones, as for visualization. For this reason, Olfactory Displays include a limited set of odors, which are specific for the application.

[A1] 　By using the ERM, we can see the dynamic changes in pre-use expectations and UX evaluation values from the start of use to the present and into the future. 　Because it is a combination of qualitative method and quantitative method, it is also possible to identify episodes of use that lead to positive and/or negative evaluations, which can be used to improve the design of artifacts to further improve UX. 　 [Q2] Kaoru Arakawa (Meiji University) Does the tendency of the survey depend on the year of the students? [A2] 　In the survey, informants were second- and third-graders. 　Third-year students, who are beginning to be aware of job hunting, tended to be more anxious for their future, and their anxiety tended to have a slight effect on their evaluation of the use of the university as a service. i.e. a change from the place for learning to the place for going out into the world.
